In which areas of RWE Supply & Trading GmbH are you placing graduates?
Every part of our value chain – from the proprietary trading of energy commodities, origination and asset management to the analytical functions of trading analysis, structuring and valuation, risk management and professional service functions like back office, IT, controlling to name a few.

What does a typical graduate rotation look like?
Because we tailor a graduate’s rotation to their individual interests and in line with our business needs there is no “typical” rotation. The Graduate Programme usually lasts for 18 months and graduates rotate through 3 different business areas. We encourage our Graduates to at least spend one rotation in a different country. Either in the UK or in Germany, depending on where they are based. The areas of rotation will be determined through discussion with the graduate and will of course depend on the opportunities available because the “rotation” will be a “real” job.

All of them London, Swindon and Essen

What are your application deadlines?
None – applications always welcome. For the Graduate Programme we will be holding 3 assessment centers in 2008 (March, May and August/September)

What is the ratio of applicants to the positions?
For our talent pool entrants the success rate is about 1 in 40; for our direct entry positions the success rate is about 1 in 10

Briefly describe the hiring process:
Typically we will evaluate your CV against some pre-selection critieria, and then carry out either a telephone interview or a face to face interview which will be based on your academic and work experience to date. This will help us decide whether you have potential for a direct entry role or for our Graduate Programme. Direct entry candidates would then be seen for a second interview with the line manager and a HR Advisor for a specific role – this interview will go into greater technical depth and also be based on competency questions. Graduate Programme candidates would be invited to an assessment centre which would include a number of assessment activities (numerical testing; competency based interview, presentation, group exercises).

How much do you pay graduates?
We pay competitively depending on experience and specialist skills.

Do you allow deferred entry and if so, under what circumstances?
Generally we can be quite flexible as we always have a need for good people.
